A seminar on tourism development for Bac Ha District, Lao Cai Province was recently organised by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) with support from the Vietnam Australia Centre (VAC). Key attendants included Dr. Hoang Giang, Deputy Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee, representatives of provincial departments and branches, Bac Ha district officials, and relevant agencies.
At the seminar, participants discussed solutions to develop new, attractive tourism products for Bac Ha District which will help elevate the locality into a unique destination in Lao Cai and the north-western region.
Dr. Hoang Giang encouraged tourism in Bac Ha District to showcase the cultural identity of the northwestern region while ensuring environmental, cultural, and sustainable development issues are addressed.

Joining the discussion about challenges in developing a District tourism strategy, Ms Ngo Phuong Dung shared her experience of Australia’s GREAT program. This included promoting women’s empowerment in the tourism sector and improving market linkage with tour companies, transport providers and e-platforms for booking systems for homestays in Lao Cai.
