Over September, Vietnam Australia Centre (VAC) foundational partners discussed strategic priorities and needs in a series of workshops to inform the VAC’s Annual Plan and four-year strategy.
Discussions at the workshops focused on partner needs under the three VAC pillars: training and education; research and policy analysis; and partnerships and collaboration. Vietnam and Australia are already collaborating on many areas of needs, such as training in strategic writing and analysis, leadership training for provincial and district leaders, and women in leadership training. The workshops also identified common interests across all partners, which will facilitate more joint activities. Key areas of interest included: digital diplomacy; writing skills; presenting at events and forums; and policy development.
Mr. Mark Tattersall, Deputy Head of Mission, Australian Embassy said: “We welcome the strong interest in gender equality, human rights training, and modern approaches to teaching and training. Human resource development is important for Vietnam’s future, leaders, but also for strengthening our partnership and working on shared challenges”.
Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, VAC Director member emphasized: “We want to make sure the VAC serves the needs of all partners. All feedback from the sessions will be fed into the VAC planning process.”
A Partnership Workshop will be held in October 2022 to progress these discussions and develop the VAC Annual Plan.
