The Vietnam Australia Centre seeks to create an enabling environment where everyone, including women, people with disabilities, people from disadvantaged rural areas, including people from Ethnic Minority groups, and other groups experiencing social exclusion in Vietnam, can participate and benefit equally in all our activities. We recognise that supporting gender equality and challenging the gendered drivers of violence against women and children are important steps towards achieving this mission.
The VAC is strongly committed to creating a safe work environment where we proactively address issues of gender inequality, gender-based discrimination, everyday sexism, sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment, gender-based violence including violence against women, and child exploitation, abuse and harm. This includes a zero-tolerance approach to sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (SEAH) and child exploitation and abuse, and a do-no-harm approach.
All VAC staff (including advisers and consultants), partners and contractors, as well as participants in VAC activities (including participants of Australia Awards Short Courses,VAC alumni and grants recipients) are expected to fully comply with DFAT’s Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) Policy and DFAT’s Child Protection Policy.
All VAC staff, partners, contractors, and participants are required to immediately report any concerns, allegations or suspicions of SEAH, child exploitation, abuse, and/or harm; and/or non-compliance of PSEAH and Child Protection policies or codes of conduct. Reports can be made by people directly impacted or others who observe or know of occurrences of SEAH and child exploitation and abuse. If in doubt, suspected or alleged incidents should be reported. All reports are taken seriously.
